Voluntary Action-Leeds Rural Support
In Leeds Metropolitan Area the RISS project is being delivered by Voluntary Action-Leeds.
The Metropolitan District of Leeds covers a far greater area than just the city of Leeds and so does VA-L. We understand and respect the individual identity of towns such as Otley and Wetherby and the villages of Arthington, Harewood, East Keswick, Scarcroft, Bardsey, Linton, Clifford, Thorp Arch, Thorner, Aberford, Micklefield, Ledsham, Allerton Bywater and Methley to name just a few!

Clusters
Think of a chocolate cluster with lots of possible tasty combinations held together by the chocolate. Well, rural clusters are collections of groups held together by a common ingredient.
This common ingredient may be having an issue in common - a demand for better quality broadband in the area or a group of older people coming together to diminish their social isolation and loneliness. It may be a group of local villages joining together to produce a local newsletter and organise local events.

Otley and Beeston Twinning
Twinning between a rural community and an urban community is new!
It's exciting and it could reap dividends for both communities. We are talking about celebrating difference and increased understanding and appreciation of each other's strengths, challenges and issues. Rural or urban - we can all broaden our horizons. We can share festivals, music, culture, life experiences, whatever we want.
Find out more about the Twinning Project on the VA-L website.
Info and Resources
On the VA-L website we provide a range of links relevant to rural Leeds and list news and events relevant to Leeds.
Community Led Planning
A community-led plan is a community's own vision for its future and an action plan on how to achieve it. Community-led plans allow rural communities to make themselves heard and initiate actions to improve the quality of life locally.
